I am impressed to know from this URL that the average American generates about 15000 pounds of carbon dioxide every year! I didn't know exactly how much was a pound. A pound is about half a Kg of mass. More exactly it is 0.45359Kg. That means that 15000 pounds are 6803.89Kg. Almost 7 tons of mass. That is a lot! Even for a year. That is 106 Ricardos. That is a lot.

What can I do to save the planet and STOP global warming (the inspiration for GLOBALWARMING AWARENESS2007 competition)? Can I really save it?
Yes you can. The planet is big but the human intervention started to change it many years ago. Its up to us to take action. Individual action can change a lot. You can change your incandescence lights with compact economy lights, you can keep the tires in your car adequately inflated, you can check your car's air filter monthly, you can run your dishwasher only with a full load and set for energy saving to dry dishes and don't use heat, you can use recycled paper in your printer and be sure to only print when is extremely necessary, you can set your fridge settings two units down in the winter and 2 up in the summer, you can take shorter showers regularly. After all you can also save lots of money. And you can make more: choose energy efficient appliances when making new purchases, wrap your water heater in an insulation blanket, use less hot water, turn off electronic devices you’re not using, use a clothesline instead of a dryer whenever possible, unplug electronics from the wall when you’re not using them, insulate and weatherize your home, be sure you’re recycling at home, buy recycled paper products, plant a tree, get a home energy audit, switch to green power, buy locally grown and produced foods, buy fresh foods instead of frozen, seek out and support local farmers markets, buy organic foods as much as possible, avoid heavily packaged products, eat less meat, reduce the number of miles you drive by walking, biking, carpooling or taking mass transit wherever possible, start a carpool with your coworkers or classmates, keep your car tuned up, when it is time for a new car, choose a more fuel efficient vehicle, try car sharing, try telecommuting from home, fly less. If you can do all these things GREAT!!! But I am certain that you can do most of them.
